Sushma Swaraj:
one of the most distinguished woman leaders of our nation.

The sudden demise of Sushma Swarajji has saddened one and all!
She handled every issue with great humanness, humility and devotion.
Such a pleasing character and personality endeared people to have a feeling that half of their problems solved instantly as soon as they contacted her with their problems!
As foreign affairs minister, her attention was not only about the major issues between India and the rest of world, but for the problems of many an individual and various associations of people had immediate solutions, as soon as they approached her via tweets, phone calls etc.
She has represented India in many a fora with her highly distinguished approach.
The United Nations’ General Assembly President Maria Fernanda Espinoza said in her obituary message, that “Sushma Swaraj was an extraordinary woman politician of the world”.
Daughter of an RSS stalwart, Hardev Sharma and Laxmi Devi, migrants from Dharmapura, Lahore, Sushma was borne in Ambala Contonment, Haryana in February 1952 and had her formal education at ‘Sanatan Dharma’ College and studied Sanskrit and Political Science for her BA graduation and thereafter studied Law at Punjab University.
She was a student leader as a member of ABVP, in the 70s and has won several awards for her scholarly oratory in Hindi language for three consecutive years.
Sushmaji was also a Senior Supreme Court Lawyer like her husband Swaraj Kaushal who had also been an MP, Governor etc, and also was a close associate of veteran trade union and socialist leader late George Fernandez.
Their only daughter Bansuri Kaushal is an Oxford graduate and Barrister at Law from the famous ‘Inner Temple’, London.
Sushmaji’s political life began with her association with the ‘JP movement’.
Just after the declaration of national emergency, she became in the lime light of politics.
She has adorned the positions as a three times’ MLA and the youngest Cabinet Minister of Haryana State, at the age of just 25 years, General Secretory of BJP, in 1996 I&B Minister in Vajpayee’s short lived ministry, the 5th Chief Minister of Delhi, for a short duration in 1998, Parliamentary Affairs’ Minister in Vajpayee’s 3rd Ministry 1999-2004, a seven times’ MP – including the two terms she was elected from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh where she made record win in the second term over there, with a margin of more than four lakh votes, there by proving that she could be elected from anywhere in the country -, Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha between 2009-2014 and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Minister in the NDA government from 2014 to 2019.
A highly capable and devoted External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj enriched India’s cordial relation with major as well as smaller nations like the United States, China, Sri Lanka, Maladwips etc, respectively.
The ‘Wall Street Journal” of the US described Sushma Swaraj as the “most Loved” woman politician.
Due to health issues, Sushmaji had declined to contest in the last LS elections.
What our PM Modiji said about Sushmaji is “a prolific orator and an outstanding Parliamentarian, Sushma Swarajji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people”.
Also Modiji said while paying tribute to the departed party colleague, that “it’s a personal loss”.
The most noteworthy last tweet to the PM by her, was only some hours before her departure, as per reports, and what Sushmaji, one of the greatest Patriots of mordern India, wrote, thanking Modiji, “I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime” – in regard with abolition of Articles 370 and 35A.
“We have lost one of the brilliant and most compassionate woman politicians with an adorable stature, in the untimely demise of the very affectionate leader of the people of India.
Everlasting peace of Sushmaji’s Soul is absolutely assured by the best of her lifetime service to the nation.
